Fishing Britain – Silver Salmon and Manky Perch

Excellent video as usual from Fishing Britain, produced by the Field Sports Britain Boys, this channel is easily the best on youtube. This episode shows Ant Glascoe Jr. visiting some urban spots that I myself have visited.

The difference of course is fish do actually end up on the bank.

I have yet to catch a pike on a lure. All of the pike I’ve ever pulled in have been on live shiners and crappie minnows. Once I actually get around to learning to fly fish, I’d love to fish Scotland.

    • Lure fishing for pike is great. I prefer it to using bait for them, no stinky fingers and less gear. Fly fishing is such a nice way to fish, frustrating at first but really rewarding. I only started to chuck the fluff last year and I’ve managed a few fish so if I can do it, it can’t be too hard. Funny you mention Scotland I’ve just added a post about a recent trip to Scotland. Have a read.

      • Amber says:

Ah, we have a boat, so the gear is less of an issue for us 🙂 However, there’s some good trout streams to the west of where I live, and Lake Michigan, my nearest Great Lake has Coho and King salmon, as well as steelhead and lake trout, and they swim up the tributaries.

      • That all sounds amazing, I love boat fishing, it sounds like you are blessed with great fishing in your area. America and the Great Lakes are definitely on my target list I would love to visit Montana and Texas so I could wear a cowboy hat.
